Man stabbed in affluent central London square during ‘attempted robbery’
A man has been stabbed in an attempted robbery in an affluent area of central London.
The man was treated by the emergency services at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to hospital, where he remains.
The Met have said that his injuries are non-life threatening.
The force added that a 58-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon and attempted robbery.
He was also taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries, while police enquiries continue.
A large emergency response was seen in the area of the attack, with video footage shared on social media showing paramedics attending to a man on the ground.
The Saudi Embassy in the UK confirmed that one of its nationals had been stabbed, and that it
was working closely with the British authorities.
