CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Some sea trips in the provinces of Batangas and Mindoro were canceled Thursday due to the combined effects of tropical depression Neneng and the southwest monsoon, according to port authorities.

As of 8 a.m., the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) listed canceled trips at the Port Management Office (PMO) Batangas and PMO Mindoro.

At the PMO Batangas, the Island Water trip in Abra de Ilog was canceled.

Meanwhile, all trips at the Port of Lubang under PMO Mindoro were canceled.

Unsafe sea conditions prompted the cancellations.

The PPA clarified that it does not directly cancel vessel trips. Rather, trips are automatically canceled when the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) issues a “no sail” policy, which prohibits vessels from leaving port under such conditions.

Shipping lines may also cancel trips in compliance with the terms of their Certificate of Public Convenience issued by the Maritime Industry Authority.

Passengers were advised to coordinate with their respective shipping lines for the latest schedules and possible resumption of operations./coa
