Police arrest two suspected of attacking man who lost his daughter on Oct. 7 in Acre's Old City

Two residents of Acre's Old City in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of attacking a bereaved father whose daughter was killed at the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023, Israel Police said on Thursday.

The attack took place last week in the old city, while the victim had been out walking his dog.

During the walk, they encountered the suspects’ dog, and a fight broke out between the two dogs.

According to the police’s investigation, the suspects had approached the incident and, claiming their dog had been purposefully attacked, “violently” attacked and injured the man.

Suspects arrested during house raid

Police opened an investigation immediately and were able to identify and track down the two suspects. Their homes were raided on Thursday morning, leading to both of their arrests.

They were taken to the Acre Police Station for further questioning, after which they were jailed, police said.

In accordance with the needs and findings of the investigation, the court granted the police's request and extended the detention of the two until September 7.
