Bengal government stalling MP work: Mahua

Though her counsel Gopal Sankaranarayanan could not be present to argue her case due to preoccupation in other court, solicitor general Tushar Mehta questioned whether an MP could move SC directly bypassing Calcutta HC

NEW DELHI: TMC MP Mahua Moitra Wednesday complained to SC that BJP government in West Bengal has made it impossible for her to function as a member of Parliament by stalling her MPLAD fund related works, impeding her visits to her constituency Krishnanagar and allowing goons to harass her.Though her counsel Gopal Sankaranarayanan could not be present to argue her case due to preoccupation in other court, solicitor general Tushar Mehta questioned whether an MP could move SC directly bypassing Calcutta HC, which is best suited to examine the allegations relating to incidents that took place in its jurisdiction. Moitra said developmental work worth Rs 3.5 crore initiated through her MPLAD funds have been stalled as officials have stopped cooperating with her.
