Avoid the F1 rush: AirAsia advises extra KLIA travel time Oct 2-4

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 — AirAsia advises all guests travelling through the Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 to plan their journey, as higher passenger volumes and heavier traffic are expected in conjunction with the Formula 1 race weekend at Sepang International Circuit from Oct 2 to 4.

The airlines said guests are advised to arrive at the airport at least three hours before the scheduled departure time for international flights and two hours before the scheduled departure time for domestic flights.

“All guests, including those travelling under group bookings, are strongly encouraged to complete self check-in via the AirAsia MOVE app or our website.  Self check-in is available from 14 days up to one hour before the scheduled departure time,” it said in a statement, adding that check-in counters are designated for guests requiring reduced mobility assistance and other special assistance needs.

Besides, Malaysian passport holders travelling internationally are encouraged to use the MyNIISe or MyBorderPass app to facilitate a smoother immigration clearance process at KLIA Terminal 2, it said.

It added that guests are encouraged to use the Express Rail Link (ERL) to facilitate convenient and reliable public transport access to KLIA2. Guests are also advised to stay updated on traffic advisories and road closure announcements from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and plan alternative routes where necessary.

“Guests travelling during the race weekend are advised to allow additional travel time to the airport due to anticipated congestion on major routes leading to KLIA Terminal 2 and the Sepang International Circuit,” it said.
