Followed by men who tried to pull me, friend into car: Hindu College student alleges

Amid growing concerns over women’s safety in the Capital, a postgraduate student of Delhi University’s Hindu College has alleged that a group of men in a car followed her and her friend, while also attempting to pull them into the vehicle in Mukherjee Nagar, police said.
The incident took place around 9:30 pm on Wednesday. Police said the car allegedly involved in the incident has been traced and that an FIR has been registered at the Mukherjee Nagar police station.
As per a video posted on social media by the complainant, the first-year master’s student said she and her friend were walking when a white car approached them.
The men inside allegedly passed comments at the two women. When they objected, the men allegedly abused them and began following them, she said. As per police, the car was being driven by one Naman, a Delhi University student, and two to three other people were accompanying him at the time of the alleged incident.
The student further alleged that when she and her friend stopped to record the incident, the men also stopped their vehicle and attempted to pull them inside.
The men fled after her friend began recording the car, she claimed. The student also alleged that the two women approached three police stations over nearly four hours before their complaint was registered. They were initially told that the matter did not fall under the jurisdiction of the police station concerned, she alleged.
Police said they are looking into the allegation regarding the delay and the women’s visits to multiple police stations.

“Police… traced the car allegedly used in the incident,” DCP (Northwest) Akanksha Yadav said.
