The Slouchy Shoulder Bag Takes Center Stage for Fall — and Coach’s Chelsea Steals the Show

Structured silhouettes and hardware-heavy handbags are making way for their slouchier counterparts as laid-back leather styles see a major seasonal surge. And Coach’s Chelsea Bag is the quintessential illustration of said shift.

Minimalist and practical by nature, the latest iteration of the Coach Chelsea launched in early 2026, first with the medium-sized Chelsea 30 in January, and most recently, with the Chelsea 26, the OG’s smaller sibling. Styled effortlessly by Bella Hadid at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, the handbag has only gained popularity since making its festival debut, especially now, thanks to Coach’s collection of fall-inspired hues.

The bag features an all-over leather and suede body with a barely-there logo as not to detract from its intentional simplicity. The Chelsea 26 and 30 come with one of two straps: either a classic leather shoulder strap, or a two-in-one brass chain that can be worn both as a crossbody and doubled up on the shoulder.

Beyond its effortless cool factor, Coach’s Chelsea Bag is inherently practical. It sits comfortably on the arm, includes a zip pocket for added organization, closes with a secure pushlock mechanism and features an open interior to easily throw things in and go. As for durability, the natural grain leather only gets better with age — after all, its slouchy silhouette requires a lived-in look.
