P1.79-M shabu confiscated from high-value suspects in Taguig, Valenzuela

MANILA, Philippines — Police on Wednesday confiscated suspected shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride with a combined value of P1.79 million, and arrested five suspects during separate buy-bust operations in Taguig and Valenzuela cities.

The confiscated substances had a combined weight of 263.6 grams, the National Capital Region Police Office said.

According to law enforcement, the arrest happened after an undercover police officer purchased alleged shabu from a 37-year-old newly identified high-value suspect.

Police also arrested his other accomplices, including two newly identified high-value individuals aged 35 and 20, and a 28-year-old high-value individual.

Seized during the operation were six heated-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu, a mobile phone, and other personal items.

The authorities also confiscated a Glock 14 Gen 5 pistol with one magazine and seven rounds of live ammunition from the 37-year-old suspect, facing another charge aside from drug trafficking for violating the Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The four suspects arrested in Taguig were taken into police custody and are expected to face charges for violations of the Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The seized drugs and other evidence will be subjected to forensic examination.

Anotherbuy-bust operation in Barangay Punturin, Valenzuela City, at 4:49 a.m. resulted in the arrest of a 45-year-old high-value individual and the confiscation of P432,480 worth of alleged shabu.

Authorities recovered two plastic sachets allegedly containing 63.6 grams of suspected shabu.

Under police custody, the suspect faces charges of violating Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act No. 9165 and will be referred to the City Prosecutor’s Office for inquest proceedings.
