Myanmar man arrested within 12 hours after fatal stabbing in Cheras

KUALA LUMPUR: A foreigner was arrested yesterday, less than 12 hours after a fellow countryman was stabbed to death in Taman Maluri, Cheras, on Tuesday.
City police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the victim, in his 20s, died while receiving treatment at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz at 10am yesterday due to severe abdominal injuries.
Acting on information, a team from the Cheras district police headquarters Criminal Investigation Department arrested the suspect at a premises in Taman Maluri about noon.
"The suspect, a Myanmar national in his early 30s, is unemployed and has no previous criminal record.
"He was arrested with a pair of scissors believed to have been used in the attack," he said in a statement.
Fadil said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
He said police would apply for a remand order against the suspect today.
