Focus on Tabung Haji instead of Taiwan, PKR man tells PAS

A PKR Youth leader has urged PAS to focus on issues involving Tabung Haji before trying to lecture the government on the China-Taiwan conflict and foreign policy.
PKR Youth information chief Danish Hairudin said PAS should instead debate matters closer to the interests of Muslims, particularly findings from the royal commission of inquiry into Tabung Haji.
“PAS today seems very eager to teach the prime minister about the China-Taiwan conflict and how Malaysia should manage its foreign policy,” he said in a Facebook post today. “I suggest PAS not to go too far first. Before getting busy debating Taiwan, it would be better to debate Tabung Haji,” he said.
His remarks came after PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan claimed that Malaysia had been placed in a difficult diplomatic position following Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s comments about the China-Taiwan dispute in a recent international media interview.

Danish said PAS should first address questions surrounding the management of an institution that is important to Muslims. He said the Tabung Haji inquiry had revealed that political interference and considerations influenced several important decisions involving dividends, haj payments and haj financial assistance.
He said the report also raised questions over several investments which resulted in total losses, as well as RM22.12 million involving funds belonging to Yayasan Tabung Haji.
“So before PAS wants to become a geopolitical expert and teach the government about Beijing and Taipei, debate first the issues that are closer to Muslims,” he said.
