The Celebrity Traitors' Maya Jama "expected" moment where they were "stabbed in the back"

The Celebrity Traitors star Maya Jama has admitted that she "expected" to be betrayed by fellow Traitor King Kenny after he turned on her during the dramatic finale to the show's second season.
The Love Island host was one of six celebrities who made it to Friday's (30 October) final showdown, but her hopes of claiming victory were dashed when Kenny voted to banish her at the Round Table.
Despite the brutal nature of her elimination, where one viewer on X said she was "stabbed in the back", Maya revealed that she held no grudges over her co-star's decision as she acknowledged that her fellow Traitor was in a stronger position to survive.

"I expected it. I knew that it was going to have to be one of us, and he was a lot more trusted at that time than me," she explained. "I felt like it would be selfish for me to expect him to try and save me when it was never going my way."
Reflecting on the tense Round Table, Maya said she had prepared for the worst, noting: "I already knew that everyone was going to come for me, so the feeling before going into there is like, 'this is your last chance just to fling everything at everyone, and do your best.'"
Despite her disappointment, Maya insisted she was proud of how far she had made it in the competition, sharing: "I never really expected to even make it this far, let alone to win it. I felt like that was my time to go."
The star also confessed that being more ruthless might have changed her fortunes, and that things may have "gone a different way" if she was more "savage" during her time in the Scottish Highlands.
"I've been lovely and considerate, and put other Traitors feelings before mine this whole game," she quipped. "Now I'm gonna have to look after myself, because it is really a solo game at the end of the day, isn't it?"

Kenny's gamble ultimately failed to secure him victory as he was subsequently banished, leaving Romesh Ranganathan and Bash to claim the £83,000 prize pot for their chosen charities.
Maya was noticeably absent from the cast reunion on The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked, which aired following the finale, with viewers told that she was busy filming.
The Celebrity Traitors airs on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
