Bad news: Injured Orlando Pirates star will return next year

Orlando Pirates drew 1-1 with AmaZulu in midweek. It was where midfielder Sihle Nduli sustained a serious ankle injury during the encounter and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
SIHLE NDULI FACES FOUR MONTHS OUT
Nduli was forced off during the match after suffering the injury following a heavy challenge. “The 30-year-old was forced off during the match following a heavy challenge. After further assessment by the Club’s medical team, has been ruled out for an extended period,” Orlando Pirates announced.

“Nduli is expected to be sidelined for approximately four months after suffering a Grade 3 ligament tear. It effectively rules him out of action for the remainder of the year.”
The setback comes after Nduli had only recently returned from a lengthy layoff caused by a previous injury.
Nduli joined Orlando Pirates FC in June 2025. He transferred from Stellenbosch FC ahead of the 2025–26 South African Premiership season.
The defensive midfielder arrived with high expectations after establishing himself as one of the most consistent performers in the league. Wearing the number 30 jersey, he quickly integrated into the squad and won over supporters with his high work rate, defensive discipline and energy in midfield.
His start to life at Orlando Pirates was also marked by immediate silverware success. Nduli played an important role as the Buccaneers won the MTN8 just months after his arrival.
He subsequently became a key player for head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou during the opening half of his debut campaign, making 17 competitive appearances.
ORLANDO PIRATES MISS TWO MORE PLAYERS
Meanwhile, Andre de Jong will also miss the encounter against Chippa United after suffering a quad strain. The forward has been ruled out and will not be considered for selection against the Chilli Boys.
There is better news regarding Tshepang Moremi, although his availability remains uncertain. “The Bafana Bafana international picked up a knock during the midweek encounter and will undergo a late fitness assessment before a final decision is made regarding his availability.”
With a quick turnaround between fixtures, Orlando Pirates will be hoping to return to winning ways this afternoon despite their growing injury concerns.
