Dungeon Crawler Carl: Smush Officially Releases November 2026

Dungeon Crawler Carl fans are waiting on pins and needles for the series finale to arrive from Matt Dinniman, with The Beautiful Place expected to arrive as two separate sprawling volumes in the coming years. After eight books of chaotic crawling and hilariously dark twists and turns, Carl, Princess Donut, and their surviving allies are rapidly approaching the endgame of a story that has grown well beyond a simple dungeon escape.

Dinniman still has plenty of unanswered questions, villains, and long-running character arcs to resolve before the Crawl reaches its conclusion, making the wait for the finale especially difficult for longtime readers. Fortunately, Dungeon Crawler Carl is no longer confined to the novels, and the franchise has rapidly expanded into new territory, including an upcoming television adaptation for Peacock from Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door and Universal Global Television.

The live-action adaptation has already received a straight-to-series order, with Thor: Ragnarok writer Chris Yost and Dinniman involved as a co-executive producer. Audiobook narrator Jeff Hays has also been confirmed to voice Princess Donut, although Peacock has not yet announced a release date.

Television isn't the only major expansion underway, either. Dungeon Crawler Carl is also making the leap into tabletop role-playing, giving fans an entirely new way to experience the chaotic world of the Crawl for themselves. That RPG is still on the horizon, but fans won't have to wait much longer, as both its massive Core Rulebook and an appropriately ridiculous release titled Smush are currently scheduled to arrive this November (via Renegade).

Dungeon Crawler Carl fans will have another bizarre collectible to add to their shelves this fall with the Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG: Smush Dice Set, an official accessory for Renegade Game Studios' upcoming tabletop RPG. Currently available to pre-order directly from Renegade for $25, the set is scheduled for release in November 2026, alongside several other major products from the new RPG line.

The package includes one d4, d6, d8, d10, and d12, along with two d20s and a poker-chip-style d2. The seven standard dice are full-color acrylic, while the d2 features a pearlescent treatment, with everything packaged inside a reusable themed window box. Naturally, the entire set is inspired by the Dungeon AI's infamous "Smush" skill, making this a unique Dungeon Crawler Carl-specific set of RPG dice fans will not want to skip.

More importantly, the dice arrive as part of a massive expansion of Dungeon Crawler Carl into tabletop gaming. Renegade's Core Rulebook Royal Court Edition, priced at $65 and also scheduled for November, clocks in at more than 300 pages and concentrates on Floors 3 through 5 of the World Dungeon. Players can create their own Crawlers using different backgrounds, skills, races, and classes, or step into the roles of established characters such as Carl, Donut, and Katia.

Renegade says the book contains enough material for more than 24 sessions, covering everything from neighborhoods and quests to loot, mobs, spells, achievements, and saferooms. Limited-time pre-orders also include a PDF copy of the rulebook at no additional cost.

The RPG isn't coming alone, either, as Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable is a separate $60 tabletop game built around John D. Clair's Unstoppable system that releases at the same time. Designed for solo play or two-player co-op, it uses a roguelike card-crafting system in which players customize their cards while fighting through mobs and bosses as Carl or Princess Donut. The base game covers the first three World Dungeon floors, with only certain XP benefits carrying over between them.

Both projects originated from Renegade's enormous 2026 crowdfunding campaign, which raised more than $13.29 million from 55,972 backers, a truly amazing figure given DCC's humble roots. Backer fulfillment is expected to begin in October, while Renegade currently plans retail releases for the RPG and Unstoppable in late November 2026, making the Smush Dice Set just one piece of a much larger Dungeon Crawler Carl tabletop takeover.
