Bali school revitalization boosts economy

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education said the implementation of the educational facility revitalization program in Bali Province not only improves the quality of education services but also boosts the local economy.

Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti said the expansion of the revitalization program in Bali is part of the government’s efforts to improve the quality of educational facilities across various regions.

“In 2025, there were 188 schools, followed by a very significant increase in revitalization projects in Bali Province in 2026. In total, the program covers 401 schools,” Mu’ti said in a statement issued in Jakarta on Friday.

Mu’ti noted that the revitalization process also benefits local communities by creating jobs.

“This demonstrates that the revitalization of educational facilities not only improves the schools themselves but also creates local employment opportunities,” he said.

Meanwhile, the impact of the changes is being felt by Ni Gusti Ayu Trisna Dewi, a teacher at Dangin Puri 15 Public Elementary School.

Dewi said the revitalization has brought tangible changes to the school, where she has taught since 2019 and which is scheduled to undergo the revitalization program in 2026.

“Before the revitalization, a classroom on the third floor actually collapsed. It happened during a storm with rain and wind. Water likely seeped in from above, causing the classroom to give way,” she said.

Once the revitalization is fully completed, the condition of the classrooms and restrooms will be significantly improved. The learning spaces will be neater and cleaner, thereby enhancing students’ comfort during lessons.

According to Dewi, the changes in the learning environment have also boosted students’ enthusiasm. The students have even taken the initiative to decorate their classrooms with their own creations.

“The impact on the teaching and learning process will certainly be positive. The classrooms look better and tidier. The children are also more enthusiastic about learning because their environment — the space where teaching and learning take place — is much neater and cleaner,” she said.
