3 Times Episodes 5-6 Of “Dive Into You” Made Us Say, “Wait A Minute!”

Translate

Just when it seemed like “Dive into You” couldn’t get any more complicated, the plot thickens! With every trip through time, Yoon Ha Na, played by Kim Ji Yeon (Bona), and Yoon Ha Ru (Jang Se Hyuk) uncover new time travel rules and face even more questions about their mission to save Jung Woo Jae (Park Seo Ham).

From a shocking revelation about the twins’ soul-swapping mechanics to a wildly unexpected plan that could change Jung Woo Jae’s fate, episodes 5 and 6 of “Dive into You” have given us plenty of moments to pause and say, “wait a minute!”

Warning: spoilers ahead!

How exactly do their souls swap?

While “Dive into You” deals with time travel, the story has primarily focused on the twins, Yoon Ha Ru and Yoon Ha Na, and their goal of saving their friend, Jung Woo Jae. Given the plot’s focus, “Dive into You” has been gradually explaining the mechanics of time travel each week, and the latest episodes have revealed a key detail that changes everything.

Until now, the assumption was that whenever the twin’s camcorder got soaked in water, it would send them back to the past and cause Yoon Ha Na and Yoon Ha Ru to swap souls. However, the latest episodes reveal that traveling exclusively to the past does not trigger the soul swap. Instead, the twins switch souls every time they time travel. This might sound like the same thing, but there is a major difference with potentially life-altering consequences.

In the previous episode, the twins traveled back to 2011. However, when the camcorder is triggered again, they travel to the future, but instead of returning to 2026, they end up in 2013. What’s most shocking to them is that Yoon Ha Ru is in his own body, and Yoon Ha Na is in hers. This means that if they return to 2026 now, they will find themselves in each other’s bodies in the present timeline. And since the twins still don’t know how to travel to specific years, this could potentially leave them trapped in each other’s bodies for the rest of their lives.

What if Jung Woo Jae were an actor instead?

Since the very beginning Yoon Ha Na and Yoon Ha Ru have had one unwavering goal: to save Jung Woo Jae by traveling back to the past and preventing him from being at the crime scene in 2026. So far, the twins have tried to accomplish this by keeping Jung Woo Jae from abandoning his judo career. In the latest episodes, Yoon Ha Na comes up with an entirely new plan to prevent Jung Woo Jae’s murder in 2026.

All this time, no matter what the twins do, Jung Woo Jae always finds his way back to Yoon Ha Na and ends up sacrificing his life to save the woman he loves. But what if he weren’t the one doing the protecting? What if he were the one being protected instead? In previous murder attempts, Yoon Ha Na has managed to stay safe because, as a celebrity, she is surrounded by people looking out for her. So, what if Jung Woo Jae became an actor too?

Here’s Yoon Ha Na’s plan: Her breakthrough came through a university film project that turned her into a nationwide sensation overnight. Now, she decides to get Jung Woo Jae cast as the lead in a film, hoping that his newfound celebrity status will keep him safe. While this plan might initially seem far-fetched, Jung Woo Jae’s clip soon goes viral, and a group of girls show up claiming they have sworn an oath to protect him. Their unexpected appearance proves that Yoon Ha Na’s plan might just be the perfect amount of unhinged to work!

Now, this is a “wait a minute” moment in itself because the plan sounds perfectly workable at first. However, the audience suspects something the twins don’t: Jung Woo Jae may not have been killed multiple times simply because he chose to protect Yoon Ha Na. In fact, he might have been the target all along. If Yoon Ha Na helps him become an actor, he could become an even easier target, as celebrities are often more recognizable and easier to track than ordinary people. On top of that, Lee Hyeong Won (Kim Han Yeong) already resents Jung Woo Jae because he is in love with Yoon Ha Na. This latest development is almost certainly setting the stage for some serious trouble down the road!

Is that a Dubai chewy cookie?

Now, this is one of the funnier moments that made viewers stop and say, “wait a minute!” Since Yoon Ha Na and Yoon Ha Ru traveled back to 2011 in the previous episode and Yoon Ha Ru injured his knee, his life takes a different turn when the twins arrive in 2013. Instead of pursuing his career as a national judo athlete, Yoon Ha Ru is now studying to become a chef and plans to open a restaurant in Seoul.

At first, his situation feels a little emotional, especially considering how passionate Yoon Ha Ru has always been about judo. However, things quickly take a comedic turn when he enters the university kitchen. His instructor is practically a caricature of the furious chefs we see on cooking shows! His assignment is to create a dessert, and while the other students are busy making ordinary pastries, Yoon Ha Ru whips up a Dubai chewy cookie filled with pistachio butter and kadayif and absolutely blows the chef away.

Although the drama might not spend much time exploring this alternate version of Yoon Ha Ru’s life as a chef, it would be fun to see him recreate other viral dishes from the years between 2014 and 2026. After all, if he can impress a chef with a Dubai chewy cookie, who knows what other internet-famous treats he could whip up?

With Lee Hyeong Won finally connecting the dots and the camcorder broken, the next episode of “Dive into You” is shaping up to be even more intriguing! Will he discover the truth about Yoon Ha Ru and Yoon Ha Na, and what will happen when he does?
