It is always exciting when a new Game of Thrones project gets announced, especially considering that the franchise, while immensely popular and actively receiving new entries in beloved series, continues to be underutilized in so many ways. Fortunately, it appears that, after years of languishing with so few legitimately phenomenal outings beyond the original novels and series, Warner Bros. has finally begun to capitalize on its success by partnering with numerous studios to create spin-offs and all-new projects.
One such project is Game of Thrones: Vhagar, a brand-new addition to an existing piece of GoT media that fans have been flocking to in droves. As the name suggests, it revolves around the series' biggest dragon, something that anyone with even the slightest bit of interest in House of the Dragon should hopefully enjoy. Coupled with the numerous other upcoming Game of Thrones projects, Vhagar makes for a promising update that will help keep fans busy.
Alongside the soon-to-be-expanded Kingsroad, Game of Thrones: Dragonfire is one of the most popular free-to-play games based on the iconic IP. It's a 4X strategy game available for mobile devices in which players dominate the battlefield with fearsome dragons from across the vast Game of Thrones lore. Designed to be the ultimate companion piece to House of the Dragon, Dragonfire has proven to be a success among fans, garnering favorable reviews and over one million downloads.
Now, after much anticipation and wishful thinking from fans, the legendary dragon, Vhagar, is the latest dragon being added to Dragonfire. She is coming as part of the August update and will likely prove to be a must-have dragon to overcome the odds and best your foes. Naturally, Vhagar comes with her own set of abilities and strategies, as her size alone won't be enough to defeat an opponent. Her official description is as follows:
Vhagar is a towering guardian who forces enemy attention, absorbs punishment, and steadily becomes harder to dislodge as battle continues. Her kit centers around Taunt which forces enemies to focus their basic attacks towards her. Her potent damage mitigation allows her to absorb those extra hits that would otherwise hurt her allies. In her final star, she gains a new stacking buff, bulwark, that both enhances her ability to sustain damage and deal it.
Of course, with Dragonfire being a free-to-play mobile game, fans can expect to invest either a lot of time or real-life money to unlock the legendary Vhagar in-game. However, once they do, they'll need to know how to best effectively use her. Fortunately, alongside her description, players can learn about the best way to utilize her on the battlefield via the official Dragonfire website. The best strategies for Vhagar in Dragonfire include:
-
Embrace the frontline role
- Vhagar creates value by drawing attacks, surviving them, and controlling enemy focus
-
Capitalize on her setup effects
- Her vulnerability and damage amplification tools help allies secure priority kills
-
Play for long fights
- The longer Vhagar survives, the more dangerous and durable she becomes through Bulwark.
This is obviously not going to be the last update for Dragonfire, as Vhagar is just one of many new additions coming to the game. However, it is one of its most important updates so far, as Vhagar is such an iconic dragon in the show and the series' lore and therefore a long-requested addition. For those interested in controlling Vhagar in Dragonfire's 4X-style gameplay, or simply those looking for a new Game of Thrones-related experience to immerse themselves in, the game is available for download on both iOS and Android devices.
