KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 — The Ministry of Education’s plans to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) literacy into the school curriculum, Malaysia’s participation as a Brics partner country, and the drafting of an AI Governance Bill are among the key topics set to be addressed in the Dewan Rakyat today.

According to the Order Paper available on the Parliament website, during the Ministers’ Question Time, Mohd Nazri Abu Hassan (PN-Merbok) will ask the Minister of Education to outline the Ministry’s plans to incorporate AI literacy into the school curriculum through the AI Literacy Guide.

Following this, the proceedings will continue with a question-and-answer session, during which Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee (PN-Beluran) will ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs to explain the objectives behind Malaysia’s participation as a BRICS partner country, as well as the added value this offers compared to existing bilateral cooperation.

Additionally, Datuk Idris Ahmad (PN-Bagan Serai) will pose a question to the Minister of Digital regarding the status of the drafting of the AI Governance Bill, the expected timeline for its tabling in the Dewan Rakyat, and the existing legal protections available to citizens who fall victim to fraud.

Datuk Seri Doris Sophia anak Brodi (GPS-Sri Aman) will ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs to provide the number of Malaysians detained or charged for drug-related offences abroad over the last five years, as well as to comment on the effectiveness of airport scanning technology in detecting drugs and the current state of security.

During the same session, Datuk Seri Sh Mohmed Puzi Sh Ali (BN-Pekan) will ask the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security to provide statistics on the economic returns generated by the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Show (MAHA), and to what extent the event has benefited small-scale operators.

The winding-up session for the debate on the Supply Bill 2027, scheduled for tomorrow, will involve several ministries including the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities, the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Human Resources, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Ministry of Finance before the Dewan Rakyat proceeds to a vote to pass the Bill. — Bernama
