A Facebook account titled “Dear Rassie” is gaining followers over its commentary criticising and commending the Springbok coach

A Cape Town Facebook user is using their account to post running commentary about Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus.

The account, titled “Dear Rassie”, currently has over 32 000 followers

In weekly posts, the administrator both questions and commends the Bok boss’s choices.

“Rassie, you’re a genius. Up the Boks. Number 1 in the world and deservedly so”, a post reads following the Springboks’ defeat of the All Blacks at the FNB Stadium.

Some posts are filled with pure joy, while others angrily critique the coach’s decisions. 

In the comments section, fellow rugby fans also share their emotionally-charged reactions.

Some even share their advice with the 53-year-old.

Ultimately, the Facebook user has labelled Rassie a”genius”.

Rassie Erasmus has been hailed as the greatest South African, if not the greatest international rugby coach of all time.

The two-time World Cup-winning coach helped South Africa win the 2019 and 2023 Rugby World Cups.

Rassie has been particularly praised for his huge turnaround in the team, from taking the Boks from that infamous 57–0 loss to New Zealand in 2017 to becoming world champions in 2019.

He’s been behind the Springboks’ Rugby Championship success, guiding them to clinch the titles in 2019, 2024 and 2025 as well as their impressive win rate, establishing the Boks as the world’s number one-ranked team for significant periods of his tenure.
