5,000 Johor B40 students to receive Yes 5G SIM packs

Translate

A total of 5,000 B40 students in Johor will receive Yes 5G prepaid SIM packs with 50GB of free internet data under an initiative driven by Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah’s concern for the education and welfare of the younger generation.

The RM100,000 contribution was made by YTL Communications Sdn Bhd through the Johor Digital Connectivity Initiative, in collaboration with the Raja Zarith Sofiah Foundation of Johor (YRZSNJ) and the Johor education department.

The initiative also takes into account students’ needs following the haze that recently affected the country, particularly to ensure that home-based teaching and learning can continue smoothly.

Each SIM pack comes with 50GB of free high-speed internet data to help students access digital educational materials and participate in lessons from home.

The contribution was presented yesterday by YTL Communications CEO Wing K Lee to YRZSNJ CEO Hishammuddin Abdul Rahim.

Hishammuddin said the contribution would help bridge the digital divide for B40 families facing limited internet access.

He said the facilities would also enable students to participate in home-based learning more smoothly and effectively.

Meanwhile, Wing expressed hope that the distribution of free SIM packs would help students in Johor keep up with their studies.

Also present were YTL Communications deputy CEO Jacob Yeoh, its head of marketing Chay Wan Nee and YRZSNJ corporate communications manager Dawson Yeang.
