KOTA KINABALU, Oct 28 — A 56-year-old Filipino worker died after suffering an electric shock while installing and repairing lights near the fence of SRK (C) Lok Yuk Batu 1 in Kudat early today.

The Operations Control Centre of the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), in a statement today, said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Ministry of Health (KKM) personnel.

It said the Kudat Fire and Rescue Station received a call from a member of the public at 8.31 am reporting that a man was believed to have suffered an electric shock.

Firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene to assess the situation and carry out rescue operations.

“The fire and rescue team contacted Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) to request that the power supply be disconnected to ensure the safety of personnel before the victim could be recovered,” the statement said.

A total of nine firefighters were deployed to the scene. The victim was subsequently recovered and handed over to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for further action. — Bernama
