KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 — Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain has confirmed that he will appear at the Sepang Magistrate’s Court tomorrow to face a charge of assaulting two police personnel.

Mohd Shuhaily said he was prepared to face the country’s legal process and accept whatever decision the court made in the case.

“As I have said before, bringing about changes to improve Malaysia’s borders comes at a price, and that price is myself,” he said when contacted today.

He also thanked Malaysians for their continued support as he carried out the duties entrusted to him.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail was previously reported as saying that the case was being investigated by Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which deals with voluntarily causing hurt.

Mohd Khalid said statements had so far been recorded from 25 witnesses to assist in the investigation into the incident, which occurred on September 28.

Mohd Shuhaily had previously left it to the government to decide on any action that might be taken against him following the circulation of a viral video showing him confronting two individuals at KLIA Terminal 1. — Bernama
