APC vows to mobilise Taraba voters for Tinubu, others in 2027 amid Wike coalition

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State has vowed to mobilise voters for President Bola Tinubu and other party candidates in the 2027 general elections.

The state APC chairman, Abubakar Bawa, gave the assurance on Saturday in Jalingo during the inauguration of the Taraba chapter of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a grassroots campaign organisation supporting Mr Tinubu’s re-election.

The declaration comes amid differing approaches among political actors supporting Mr Tinubu, including the Rainbow Coalition promoted by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Mr Wike has said the coalition is primarily aimed at mobilising support for Mr Tinubu’s re-election, while maintaining that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains free to field candidates in governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections.

Mr Bawa said the APC was confident of its prospects in Taraba and would deploy its structures to secure victory for its candidates at all levels in 2027.

He said the grassroots mobilisation exercise would take the party’s message to households and communities across the state.

The campaign group is expected to reach residents through door-to-door engagements as well as mobilisation in churches, mosques and local government areas.

Also speaking at the event, the Director-General of the Tinubu-Shettima campaign organisation in Taraba, Danladi Baido, said the APC would build on its performance in the 2023 presidential election.

Mr Baido expressed confidence that the party would again mobilise substantial support for Mr Tinubu in the state in 2027.

The founder and convener of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, urged Taraba residents to support Mr Tinubu for a second term.

Mr Ekpemupolo said the administration’s reforms needed time to produce lasting results and argued that continuity would help consolidate its policies.

He also linked Mr Tinubu’s re-election to Taraba Governor Agbu Kefas’s development agenda, saying another term for the president would allow the governor to continue implementing his programmes.

Mr Kefas, who backed the mobilisation drive, said residents of Taraba were already witnessing the impact of the Tinubu administration through federal government projects and programmes in the state.

“We are moving forward with the mandate of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President,” the governor said.

He assured the gathering that his administration would continue to execute and commission development projects across the state.

The national coordinator of the movement, Adekanbi Asuku, said the organisation was in Taraba to mobilise support for Mr Tinubu and Mr Kefas.

Mr Asuku urged members to take the campaign to homes, religious centres, wards and local government areas as the 2027 elections approach.

He also attributed improved security in Taraba to the efforts of APC-led administrations and called for continued support for the party.
