Canadian actor Simu Liu, star of Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, has tied the knot, marrying music industry executive Allison Hsu, according to reports in U.S. media.

The pair celebrated their nuptials this past weekend in France, according to TMZ, the first to report the marriage, and People magazine.

CBC News has reached out to Liu's representatives for comment.

Officially dating since late 2022, the couple hrevealed their engagement via social media in May 2025, during a trip to Paris. More recently, Hsu shared images from wedding-related events in Mexico and a mid-summer visit to Paris with Liu.

The couple has been open about their courtship, posting about each other on social media, and Liu has referenced their relationship in interviews.

"I feel challenged and loved and cared for, and I feel championed. I think the best, healthiest relationships are ones where you have each other's back, and I definitely feel like that's the case," he told People magazine in 2023.

Born in China and raised in the Toronto area, Liu is set to revisit his Marvel Universe role as Shang-Chi in the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday.

Portraying Marvel's Chinese hero Shang-Chi catapulted Liu to international fame, on the heels of homegrown recognition he'd already garnered for the celebrated CBC comedy Kim's Convenience, for which he played Jung Kim, the estranged son of the store-owning family at the centre of the series.

In conversation with The National’s Ian Hanomansing, Simu Liu weighed in on what it would take to get more Asian representation in leading roles on the big screen, saying the industry still has a lot of people at the top with “very traditional and very conservative mindsets” who see new talent as risky.

The superhero turn is among the many projects he's taken on in recent years, including appearing as a memorable Ken in the massive hit Barbie, voice roles like in the animated film In Your Dreams and starring in the spy thriller series The Copenhagen Test.

He harkened back to his theatre roots with a stint in the Tony-winning comedy Oh, Mary! this past spring, which marked Liu's Broadway debut.
