Official: Bologna sack Tedesco and hire Palladino 4 matches into 2026-27 season

Bologna have officially announced that they have parted company with head coach Domenico Tedesco after four Serie A matches of the 2026-27 season and that Raffaele Palladino has been called in as his replacement. 

Official: Bologna replace Tedesco with Palladino

Tedesco has become the second coach in Serie A to lose their job in the early stages of the 2026-27 season, following Fiorentina’s sacking of Fabio Grosso and their subsequent re-hiring of Paolo Vanoli. 

Tedesco has left Bologna in 16th place in the Serie A table with just one point to their name after four matches. They have fallen to 1-0 defeats against Lazio, Atalanta and Napoli and scored their only goals of the season in a 2-2 draw against Sassuolo at the beginning of September. 

The German-Italian head coach leaves the Rossoblu just 99 days after his appointment. 

Bologna have also confirmed in a statement that former Monza, Fiorentina and Atalanta head coach Palladino has been appointed as the new head coach of the men’s first team on a three-year contract until the summer of 2029. 

He will take charge of his first training session on Wednesday afternoon at 15.00 BST (16.00 local time) and will have one match at home against Torino before the extra-long September-October international break.
