I chose peace over strategy in BBNaija house — Aikou

Former Big Brother Naija Housemate, Aikou Okwor

BBNaija 2026 first runner-up, Aikou Okwor, has said his calm disposition during the reality show was not a deliberate strategy but a way of coping with the different personalities in the house.

Speaking with Sunday Scoop at the prize presentation held during the week, Aikou said he did not realise how calm he was until he observed the behaviour of other housemates.

“I didn’t know that I was that calm in the house until I saw a lot of people being the way they were, so I thought, ‘Maybe you are the one who is like this.’ I didn’t think it was a strategy. It was something I had to do, being with different people. It was good for my mental health,” he said.

On his strategy during the competition, Aikou said he preferred being himself rather than trying to maintain a particular approach throughout the show.

He said, “If I had a strategy, I would grow tired of it eventually. The best way to stay in the game with my mental health intact was to be myself. I could do that longer than any other thing.”

Aikou also responded to criticism of his dancing during the show, admitting that he was not a good dancer but expressed a willingness to learn.

“I am not a good dancer, but if I have the luxury of learning one or two dance steps, I will do it,” he said.

Speaking on his plans for the future, Aikou said he intended to use the platform to showcase his creativity.

“I will put out the fruit of my imagination out there,” he said.

He also disclosed that he had written books which he planned to publish.

“I intend to release some books that I have written. One at a time, that’s the plan,” he added.
