'Avengers: Doomsday' sets new pre-sales record with USD 100 million in tickets sold worldwide; Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans starrer eyes USD 1 billion opening

'Avengers: Doomsday' is still two months away from its release, but the Marvel Studios superhero epic is already breaking records at the box office. After becoming the first film to cross USD 50 million in advance ticket sales, three months before its release, the film has now reportedly hit the USD 100 million mark at the global box office, thus setting a new pre-sales milestone.

The film, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, has generated significant demand since advance bookings opened in July.

'Avengers: Doomsday' advance booings

As per reports, the film saw a boost in advance ticket sales, following the trailer releases and the re-release of 'Avengers Endgame: Encore' which featured new post-credit scenes that set the stage for 'Doomsday'. The return of the OG ensemble cast led by Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, has also reportedly been one of the deciding factors for the strong ticket sales in international markets. In Brazil and the UK, 'Avengers: Doomsday' has reportedly become the fastest film to cross USD 1 million in pre-release ticket sales. The advance booking momentum has been building steadily over the past month, with the film crossing USD 40 million in domestic pre-sales, achieving the feat 100 days before its release.

'Avengers: Doomsday' eyes USD 1 billion opening weekend

With anticipation building up by the day, early box office projections have placed 'Avengers: Doomsday' on course for a massive opening weekend.

According to early estimates, the film could potentially gross more than USD 1 billion worldwide on its box office debut, thus joining 'Avengers: Endgame' which also hit the milestone. The recent success of 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' has also set the stage for the film to cross the billion-dollar mark when it hits theatres this December.Beyond its opening weekend, the film has already sparked speculation that it could just become the first film to hit the USD 3 billion milestone.

Some early predictions have suggested that 'Doomsday' could potentially reach the USD 3 billion mark worldwide if its theatrical run matches the unprecedented levels of audience demand currently being seen in advance sales. This could also set the film up to become the highest-grossing MCU film of all time and beating the 'Endgame' record to become the highest-grossing film of all time.

'Avengers: Endgame' remains the benchmark

For now, however, 'Avengers: Endgame' continues to hold the box office crown after surpassing 'Avatar' over the past weekend and set a new record by totalling an estimated USD 2.925 billion.

'Avengers: Doomsday' release date and cast

'Avengers: Doomsday' is scheduled to hit theatres worldwide on December 18, 2026. The film will face some competition at the ticket windows as it will clash with 'Dune: Part Three' that is also slated to release on the same day and will have an exclusive IMAX release. The star-studded cast of 'Doomsday' includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, David Harbour, James Marsden, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Tom Holland among others.
