KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 — More than 9,000 contract doctors will be given permanent posting in public healthcare facilities next year, Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced today.

While tabling Budget 2027 at the Dewan Rakyat today, Anwar said the government has offered permanent positions for more than 15,000 contract doctors since 2023, including 4,000 doctors this year alone.

“This means that after this, doctors who complete their housemanship will be offered permanent positions as medical officers,” Anwar said.

Under Budget 2027, the government will also increase post-basic incentives from RM100 to RM200 a month for some 47,000 nurses and paramedics and raise the incentive for Air Health Service staff from RM30 to RM100.
