The Israeli consul in Addis Ababa and the Foreign Ministry are assisting the deceased's family and coordinating with authorities in Ethiopia and Israel to complete the necessary arrangements and repatriate his body to Israel for burial as soon as possible.
"The Foreign Ministry expresses its sorrow over the death of the Israeli citizen and extends its condolences to the family,” it said in a statement.
The circumstances of the death remain unclear, and the suspicion of poisoning has not yet been confirmed.
American individual arrested for planning to poison food at synagogues
Last month, 21-year-old Jonathan Hunter Kramer was arrested for planning to poison food at US synagogues.
Kramer was preparing to carry out a mass terrorist attack inspired by the ISIS terrorist organization, "preferably at a synagogue," in Valencia, a town approximately 30 kilometers north of Pittsburgh.
According to the US Justice Department, investigators thwarted the plot after finding him in possession of a semi-automatic rifle, magazines, and ammunition.
