#SHOWBIZ: TV3's 'Majalah 3' pays moving tribute to icon Tun Dr Siti Hasmah

Translate

KUALA LUMPUR: TV3's acclaimed documentary series Majalah 3 will air a special one-hour tribute tomorrow night to the late Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, offering viewers an intimate look into the life of a figure widely cherished as the "mother of the nation."

Broadcast as a final salute, the documentary goes beyond marking her passing.

It explores lesser-known sides of her life as a medical pioneer, dedicated public figure, and devoted wife to former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The tribute brings together heartfelt reflections from close friends and prominent figures, including Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (wife of the Prime Minister); legendary national badminton player Datuk Rashid Sidek; acclaimed filmmaker and producer Erma Fatima; and Universiti Malaya deputy vice-chancellor Professor Dr Zamri Radzi.

At the heart of the show is Dr Siti Hasmah's genuine warmth and humility toward people from all walks of life. One touching story comes from Siti Masitah Awang Kechik, who often prepared traditional treats for Dr Siti Hasmah—a simple gesture that shows her natural gift for making everyone feel like family.

Dr Wan Azizah reflects on Dr Siti Hasmah's groundbreaking career as one of Malaysia's first female doctors, while Rashid Sidek remembers her deep care for national athletes.

Adding a rare personal touch, Erma Fatima shares charming stories about the lifelong bond between Dr Siti Hasmah and Tun Dr Mahathir.

From personal memories shared by friends and mentees to insights from the arts and sports, every story highlights a woman whose quiet strength was built on strong principles, lifelong sacrifice, and a deep love for her country.

Majalah 3 Istimewa: Tun Dr Siti Hasmah airs on Oct 5 at 9pm on TV3. It will also be available to stream on Tonton.
