4 major rivers in Oriental Mindoro reach critical level
Four major river systems in the province have reached critical water levels as of 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) announced. 

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Four major river systems in the province have reached critical water levels as of 7 a.m. on Tuesday, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) announced. 

The river systems that have triggered the alert are the Alag River in the town of Baco and the Bucayao, Panggalaan, and Longos Rivers in Calapan City.

Residents living near these waterways and in flood-prone areas have been advised to remain on full alert and closely monitor any sudden rise in water levels.

The PDRRMO also reported that portions of the national highway in Bucayao and Pinagsabangan 2 in Naujan are currently impassable to light vehicles. Motorists, particularly those driving smaller vehicles, are strongly advised to avoid travel to Naujan and Calapan City until further notice.
