DSWD releases P37.3M in relief items to calamity-hit Ilocos LGUs

SAN ILDEFONSO, ILOCOS SUR, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 1 has released 57,540 food and non-food items (FNFIs) worth P37,275,565 as augmentation support to local governments affected by calamities in the Ilocos Region.

In a report on Friday (Aug. 14), the DSWD Field Office 1 said it continues to coordinate with affected local governments to assess the needs of families and individuals and provide assistance as quickly as possible.

The agency said the distribution of relief items is being carried out in coordination with local governments, partner agencies and volunteers to ensure the timely delivery of assistance to affected communities.

The augmentation support is part of the government’s continuing disaster response efforts under the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure that no one is left behind during calamities. —KENNETH P. TABIN/CONTRIBUTOR
