Paul McCartney “blown away” by Celine Dion’s work in ‘High In The Clouds’ adaptation: “What a talent”

Paul McCartney has shared an update on the film adaptation of his children’s book High In The Clouds, sharing that the work that Celine Dion has done on the project has left him feeling “blown away”.

The project has been in the works for years now, and has recently been confirmed to have a star-studded cast including Celine Dion, Hannah Waddingham, Idris Elba, Lionel Richie, Jimmy Fallon, Himesh Patel, and Macca’s Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr.

It is directed by Tony Genkel, who adapted the script from McCartney’s book alongside Jon Crocker. The plot follows a teenage squirrel named Wirral, who fights to make music available again after an owl named Gretsch bans it.

Now, while there have been a steady stream of updates on the project since 2014, Paul McCartney has now shared a couple of images of him inside the recording studio with Celine Dion.

“It’s been so great to see the amazing reaction to Céline’s comeback in Paris,” he wrote in the caption, referring to the huge live shows Dion has recently played in the French capital.

“There’s so much love out there for her. I’m so excited that’s she’s part of our High In The Clouds film. I’ve just been listening to some of her parts and I’m blown away by it. Wow what a talent. We are very lucky to have her as part of the team. Can’t wait to share it with the world.”

The original book was published in 2005, and in 2014 McCartney shared that one of “the first things” in the film will be a performance from “a female rock star who runs this animal city”, and the following year he confirmed that he had recorded an original song for the project with Lady Gaga (via DigitialSpy).

Four years after that, the producer of that song, Greg Kurstin, told Rolling Stone that it was recorded with “a full band, a brass section, background singers, and everything for this song that Paul had written for an animated film”.
