Manchester United fans 'in agreement' over Michael Carrick sack decision

Translate

The manager looks, once again, at significant risk of dismissal on Sunday evening despite another spirited fightback against Aston Villa to earn a 4-4-4 draw to leave them in the Premier League relegation zone for the international break.

Carrick is the first manager in 40 years to guide Man Utd into the bottom three of the top-flight standings.

The former midfielder was given a reprieve by club bosses two weeks ago following a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Bournemouth, and again last week after a 2-0 loss at Chelsea.

It was decided following the loss at Stamford Bridge that Carrick would get at least two more games - against Roma and Villa - before the situation was assessed during the international break.

It remains to be seen if that sentiment at Man Utd has changes, but the fans now appears largely in agreement that a change of manager is needed.

One X user wrote during the game against Aston Villa: "I don’t think the fanbase has ever been so in agreement that a manager needs to be sacked.

"Michael Carrick just has to go, no matter what the result is today."

But it is not just Carrick who is getting heat from the supporters, with the underperforming players and the ever-unpopular co-owners INEOS also in the firing line.

Another X user wrote: "If Carrick isn’t sacked by tomorrow then I’m not watching another game until we get a new manager.

"I would also terminate about 15 players contracts but that isn’t possible."

Prominent Man Utd fan UTDTrey added: "Too many brain dead players at this club, I can’t even blame Carrick right now.

"The players are TERRIBLE."

Another fan wrote: "I know that INEOS are the main problem. But we can't succeed with Michael Carrick."

And Terry Flewers wrote: "This is all on Wilcox for keeping Michael Carrick!"
