Indonesia holds helicopter drills aboard KRI Sriwijaya-100 carrier

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Navy conducts helicopter operation drills aboard Indonesia's first aircraft carrier, KRI Sriwijaya-100, on Monday (Nov 2)
In an official press release received in Jakarta on Tuesday, the Navy said the activity is aimed at sharpening the skills of Navy pilots in taking off and landing the helicopters on the aircraft carrier's flight deck.
Head of the Indonesian Navy Information Service (Kadispenal), Commodore Tunggul, said five helicopters took part in this exercise.
“The exercise involved five helicopters: three AS565 MBe Panther helicopters from Air Squadron 100 and two Bell 412 helicopters from Air Squadron 400 of Air Wing 2,” Tunggul said.
He added the helicopters were used not only for take-off and landing drills but also for disaster response simulation launched from the aircraft carrier.
The entire exercise, he continued, proceeded safely and smoothly.
He expressed hope that through this activity, the proficiency of Indonesian Navy pilots in conducting operations from an aircraft carrier will be further honed.
