Governor Umar Namadi has assented to the 2026 Supplementary Appropriation Act for Jigawa State and the 27 Local Government Councils.
The governor signed the bill into law at the Council Chamber, Government House, Dutse, shortly after receiving the passed document from members of the state House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Haruna Dangyatin.
The additional appropriation provides N46.369bn for the state government and N17.109bn for the local governments, bringing the total additional provision to N63.478bn.
With the assent, the total 2026 budget for the state government now stands at N948bn, up from the earlier approved N901.841bn.
Similarly, the budget for the 27 local government areas has risen from N288.848bn to N305.957bn for the fiscal year.
The supplementary budget was passed earlier the same day on Monday by the House of Assembly after about 186 recommendations and scrutiny during plenary.
The 2026 budget, tagged “Budget of Innovation and Transformation for Greater Jigawa II,” was presented on 25th November, 2025 and passed on 23rd December, 2025, with 77 per cent allocated to capital projects.
Speaking while signing the bill, the governor said the additional resources would give the government greater capacity to execute more developmental projects.

“These resources give us greater capacity to execute more development projects, but they also come with a clear responsibility to the people of Jigawa State,” the governor said.
He directed all Ministries, Departments, Agencies and local governments to implement the funds strictly in line with the approved provisions of the law.
According to him, “Every naira is a public resource, and must be used for its intended purpose with transparency, discipline and measurable results. What matters ultimately is that these resources translate into projects, better services and tangible benefits for our people.”
Moreso, Namadi appreciated the Speaker and members of the Assembly for their dedication and speed in considering and passing the supplementary appropriation.
He also commended the commissioners, MDAs and the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning for their commitment to the process.
The governor further called on the House of Assembly to sustain its oversight function to ensure the additional provision delivers tangible benefits to the people.
Presenting the bill to the governor, Speaker Dangyatin said the Assembly carried out thorough legislative work before passage.
He assured that the House will intensify oversight to ensure proper and transparent implementation of the supplementary budget across the state and local governments.
