Planning a weekend trip? KTMB just added 63,000 seats to the KL-Johor ETS route

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 — Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is providing four additional ETS services for the KL Sentral-JB Sentral-KL Sentral route every weekend until Dec 27 to meet growing passenger demand for the southern sector.

KTMB, in a statement yesterday, said the additional services will operate on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays over 50 days, offering 63,200 extra seats, with ticket sales opened since Sept 7.

The four additional trips involve the EX9572 service from JB Sentral at 7 am and EX9578 at 5.30 pm to KL Sentral, as well as EX9573 from KL Sentral at 9.05 am and EX9575 at 11.55 am to JB Sentral.

“Ticket sales for the four additional ETS services have reached 46 per cent of the offered capacity as of today. KTMB encourages passengers to book early, especially for weekend travel,” the statement read.

With the addition, KTMB said 12 ETS services are available for the KL Sentral-JB Sentral-KL Sentral route, including eight existing services, bringing the total weekend capacity to 189,600 seats.

KTMB is also providing eight additional EMUPlus services from Sept 25 to 27, with Bandar Tasek Selatan being another option for passengers to start their journey to Ipoh, apart from the Klang Station.

The service offers 2,448 seats for the Bandar Tasek Selatan-Ipoh-Klang and Klang-Ipoh-Bandar Tasek Selatan routes, with tickets on sale since Sept 22.

KTMB said the additional ETS and EMUPlus services were part of efforts to increase capacity and provide more public transport options as weekend travel demand rises, in line with its Road to Rail aspiration.

“KTMB will continue to monitor demand patterns and ticket sales to adjust service capacity according to current needs.

“The public is advised to plan their journeys and purchase tickets early through the KITS Style app, KTMB official website or ticket kiosks at selected stations. Passengers are also advised to arrive early at the station for smoother boarding,” it added. — Bernama
