Who is Sheila Sison? Sara Duterte’s lead defense counsel
MANILA, Philippines — Atty. Sheila Sison serves as the lead counsel of Vice President Sara Duterte’s defense counsel as she faces the Senate impeachment court on allegations of misusing confidential funds, unexplained wealth, bribery and grave threats.
Sison is a partner of the Fortun, Narvasa and Salazar (FNS) Law Firm, the firm many of Duterte’s lawyers in the defense team also hails from.

While Sison has come into the trial’s limelight several times since the start of the proceedings in July—most notably when she called out the prosecution, particularly Atty. Amando Ligutan, for posting about the proceedings on social media—she first entered the court’s fray to lead the defense’s cross examination when fellow defense lawyer Atty. Michael Poa served as one of the prosecution’s witnesses.

Born 1976, Sison was admitted to the Bar in 2014, Philippines after earning her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts from the University of the Philippines, Los Baños and Bachelor of Laws from San Sebastian College of Law.
Her law firm recognizes her as one its fiercest lawyers, particularly in litigation.
