DOTr to roll out cash aid to drivers, operators

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Saturday said it was set to release another round of financial assistance for affected drivers amid oil price hikes through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
This comes as the proposed fare adjustment for public utility vehicles was brought to the table during a meeting with the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport Committee on Sept. 17, the agency said.
Oil company Jetti Petroleum announced earlier that diesel prices could increase by P10 to P10.50 per liter this week. The DOTr also said toll exemptions for provincial buses and the waiving of terminal fees at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange will continue. — Holly Bacay
