South Africans now have a new way to play the Lotto

Translate

South Africans who play the Lotto or PowerBall now have a new way to buy their National Lottery tickets, with dedicated Lotto terminals being introduced at selected Post Office branches across the country.

The South African Post Office (SAPO) has partnered with the new operator of the National Lottery, Sizekhaya Holdings, to install terminals at 60 branches in the first phase of the rollout.

The move gives Lotto players another option when purchasing tickets, while also expanding the services available at Post Offices.

Lotto now available at selected Post Offices

Customers at the participating branches will be able to buy tickets for several National Lottery games, including:

  • Lotto
  • PowerBall
  • PowerBall Xtra
  • Daily Lotto

According to BusinessTech, the new terminals accept cash and electronic payments, giving customers more flexibility when buying their tickets.

SAPO said the 60 branches were selected based on factors including transaction volumes and customer foot traffic.

The rollout is expected to expand after the initial branches have been assessed.

So, where can South Africans now buy Lotto tickets? The first phase includes Post Office branches across the country, including:

Lotto winnings can also be collected

Customers will not only be able to purchase National Lottery tickets at participating branches.

The selected Post Offices will also be able to pay out winnings of up to R2 000.

SAPO and Sizekhaya are separately engaging with a commercial bank about potentially facilitating the payment of higher-value winnings through selected Post Office branches in future.
