Michael Carrick sack news LIVE: Man Utd manager awaits decision after Aston Villa draw

Translate

Carrick had been widely expected to be sacked at that point and then again after Man Utd were beaten 2-0 by Chelsea in the Premier League, a result that sent them crashing down the table.

What followed was Man Utd going two goals down to Roma, and winning, and then going tow goals down (twice) against Aston Villa, and drawing.

There’s an argument that Man Utd now have some much-needed momentum, but the calamitous fashion of Sunday’s 4-4 draw with Aston Villa suggests there is nothing of the sort.

Will a draw against Villa would be enough? United go into the international break in the relegation zone and therefore Carrick’s position surely becomes untenable.

Will Michael Carrick be sacked?

Michael Carrick could be on the brink of the sack as Manchester United manager.

The pressure has been mounting on Carrick following a disappointing start to the season, and the situation took a turn for the worse this weekend as, without kicking a ball, Man Utd slipped into the Premier League relegation zone after Nottingham Forest beat Manchester City.

While, Tuesday night’s comeback win over Roma in the Champions League allowed Carrick to survive another day in the Old Trafford hot-seat, the former midfielder will be aware that he is not out of the woods just yet.

Man Utd fought back from two goals down twice to draw at home with Aston Villa, so where does this leave Carrick?
