Translate

Ghana is developing its first National Action Plan on Youth, Peace and Security to strengthen young people’s participation in conflict prevention, peacebuilding and national security, Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Osman Ayariga, has announced.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment at the ECOWAS Ministerial Consultation on Youth, Peace and Security in Accra on Tuesday, October 27, Mr Ayariga said the initiative reflects Ghana’s commitment to giving young people a meaningful role in shaping peace and security policies.

He said young people must be recognised not only as beneficiaries of peace and security interventions but also as partners in developing and implementing solutions to challenges confronting their communities and the sub-region.

Mr Ayariga said the proposed action plan would provide a framework for strengthening youth participation in peacebuilding and conflict prevention, while supporting efforts to promote stability and security across West Africa.
