Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has thrown his weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign, pledging the state’s support for mobilisation ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Aiyedatiwa spoke when members of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, led by Chief Kestin Pondi, visited him in his office on Tuesday.

Pondi represented the movement’s convener and Director-General, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo.

The visit followed the inauguration of the movement and the unveiling of 26 campaign vehicles for grassroots mobilisation across Ondo State’s 26 constituencies.

Aiyedatiwa commended the movement for extending its activities from Delta State, the convener’s home state, to all 36 states of the federation.

He said the door-to-door approach could help tackle voter apathy by familiarising Nigerians with Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress before election day.

‎‎“As someone who is also a grassroots politician, door-to-door campaigning has a way of making people aware of what is happening, and on election day they will come out because the name of Mr President will not be new to them,” he said.

Aiyedatiwa also attributed his administration’s capacity to execute infrastructure projects partly to the Federal Government’s economic reforms, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy, which he said had increased the funds available to states for development.‎

He stressed that national development should extend beyond Abuja to all 36 states, adding that Ondo had welcomed support groups working towards Tinubu’s re-election.

Earlier, Pondi, the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, said the 26 vehicles would take the campaign to homes, churches, mosques, markets and creeks across the state.

He said the movement aimed to educate residents on why they should vote for Tinubu in the January 16, 2027 presidential election and challenged its members to secure more than one million votes for the President in Ondo State.

The Ondo State APC Chairman, Kolawole Babatunde, said the party had structures on the ground to mobilise substantial support for Tinubu.

He urged party members to intensify mobilisation and campaigning ahead of the 2027 general elections.
