Euromatch NPFL: Rivers United Stronger Than Last Season — Finidi

Rivers United technical adviser Finidi George believes his team is better equipped for the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, campaign than they were last season.

The Port Harcourt club, who finished second in the NPFL last season behind Rangers, are yet to taste defeat in the current campaign.

Rivers United currently occupy second position on the table with 10 points from four matches.

Finidi’s side recorded their third win of the campaign on Thursday, thrashing Kun Khalifat FC 5-0 in a Matchday 4 encounter.

The former NPFL champions struggled to convert their chances in previous games, a problem that contributed to their early exit from the CAF Champions League.

Finidi Happy With Rivers United’s Squad

However, Finidi is hopeful that his team can maintain the form they displayed against Kun Khalifat FC.

“The players that we signed this season are much better than last season. I have always said the quality in the squad is much better,” Finidi told the club’s media.

“Unfortunately, we couldn’t convert the chances we created in the continent, and we were eliminated. I think the players are beginning to get it right. We hope they continue this way because you never know what will happen in the future.

“I believe we will continue this way. I know my players can play good football, but converting chances was our problem. We are scoring now, and we hope to continue the same way.”

Rivers United will be away to Katsina United in a Matchday 5 encounter at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium on Monday.
