People’s Elephant get double injury boost
Enyimba have received a major boost with the return of Joel Ezra and Utum Godswill, who are both available for selection when Plateau United visit the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba on Sunday, October 4. Kick-off is at 4pm.
Defender Ezra had been sidelined for some time because of illness. The versatile player made 27 appearances last season and could slot straight back into the starting line-up.
Goalkeeper Godswill has recovered from an injury that kept him out for three weeks and is training again.
Emmanuel Deutsch’s men will look to build on a 4-2 home victory over Shooting Stars in midweek, their first league win of the season. Before that result, they had collected only one point from five games, with four defeats and a goalless draw away to Kano Pillars. They are 19th with four points from six matches, and they lost 1-0 at home to Inter Lagos on September 20.
The Peace Boys, coached by Gbenga Ogunbote, arrive with 11 points from six games. They beat Inter Lagos 2-0 in Jos on September 27, with Gideon Monday scoring in the 56th minute and Jibrin Ibrahim adding the second in the 76th. After losing their opening fixture 2-0 away to Rivers United, they have not lost in five outings.
A victory would help the hosts climb away from the relegation zone, though they remain nine points adrift of leaders Enugu Rangers.
