Amanah, DAP differ over PH cooperation with Bersatu in Melaka

MELAKA: Parti Amanah Negara is at odds with DAP over possible political cooperation between Pakatan Harapan and other political coalitions or parties for the Melaka election.
Amanah secretary-general Muhammad Faiz Fadzil said the party was more inclined to work with political partners it considered sincere rather than go it alone.
He said sincerity among coalition partners was important as it formed the basis for a stable government.
"Amanah's position is to seek sincere partners to govern Melaka. Sincerity will create stability in the government.
"Without sincerity, the government will not be stable, as seen in Negri Sembilan when the 'blue wave' turned into chaos," he said after attending the AgroMadani Sales Programme and an engagement session with fishermen at the Tanjung Nibong Fishermen's Complex in Telok Mas here yesterday.
Also present were Agriculture and Food Security Minister's political secretary Yuhaizad Abdullah and Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority state director Darleena Baharuddin.
Faiz was commenting on a statement by Melaka DAP chairman Khoo Poay Tiong, who was reported to have said that Melaka PH would contest the state election on its own and would not cooperate with Bersatu or parties outside the coalition.
Khoo, who is also Melaka PH deputy chairman, was quoted as saying that the coalition would contest all 28 seats in the
state election.
However, Melaka PH chairman Adly Zahari said on Oct 1 that room for negotiations with various parties remained open, including the possibility of forming a PH Plus cooperation.
Adly had said that the final decision would be made by the PH Presidential Council before nomination day.
Faiz said although there were differing views among PH component parties, Amanah had its own position.
"There are views within PH against cooperating with parties outside the coalition.
"We take those views into consideration, but from Amanah's perspective, I believe it is better to unite with allies to form a stable government in Melaka.
"The identity of potential partners cannot be revealed yet, but the door for negotiations with various parties remains open," he said.
He added that the decision on which allies would work with Amanah in the Melaka election would be announced soon.
