KUALA LUMPUR: A spectacular fireworks display over Batu Caves and surrounding areas last night has gone viral on social media, drawing thousands of reactions on Threads.

As the Indian community in Malaysia welcomed Deepavali, a two-minute-and-52-second video captured a dazzling display of fireworks illuminating the night sky, accompanied by a continuous rumble of explosions.

Filmed from an elevated location, the video showed fireworks of various colours lighting up the sky in a seemingly non-stop celebration.

The clip, posted by Threads user amirasyhr, has since been reposted nearly 1,000 times, garnering more than 8,400 likes, over 170 comments and more than 870 shares.

The display drew enthusiastic reactions from social media users, with many describing it as a spectacular celebration of the Festival of Lights.

One user, shariena_sarif, jokingly commented: "While other countries are busy with cyberattacks, we are busy with firecracker attacks! Happy Deepavali."

Another user, mowranaaa, said the fireworks were so loud that the noise could be heard in Klang.

"Reporting from Klang... that loud noise is not air conditioning but the thunderous sound of fireworks," the user wrote.

Meanwhile, h.aura.medina called on Malaysians to appreciate the celebrations and respect the country's cultural diversity.

"Just enjoy it. They are celebrating their festival. It happens only once a year. Let's celebrate the diversity of our races in Malaysia. Our turn will come too," the user commented.

Others praised the display, with one describing it as a true "Festival of Lights", while several extended their Deepavali greetings to the Hindu community.

Some also reminded celebrants to be considerate of their neighbours, particularly those living in residential areas, and to take precautions to prevent fireworks from damaging nearby properties.
