Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian on Thursday said he has asked the Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA) to look into the circulating photos of certain individuals doing wacky poses while inside the session hall.

The Senate President did not drop any names, but wacky photos of the House prosecution panel recently circulated on social media.

“Ang session hall at Senado ay sagrado ito dahil dito natin ginagawa marami sa mga mahahalaga nating batas, mga pinaguusapan nating mahahalagang issues. So dapat respetuhin natin itong institusyon na ito. Hindi naman tama na may ginagawa kang katawa-tawa sa loob ng ating institusyon,” Gatchalian said in an ambush interview.

(The Senate and the session hall are sacred. It is where we craft many of our important laws and deliberate on significant issues. Therefore, we must respect this institution. It is simply not right to engage in ridiculous behavior while inside our institution.)

“So pinapa-check ko sa CCTV kung totoo ‘yun. Kasi ngayon uso ang AI eh, to be honest about it. I want to make sure lang na hindi AI ‘yun, hindi ‘yung ginawa sa lang sa photoshop. I'll reply to that,” he added.

(I’m having the CCTV footage checked to verify if it’s true. To be honest, AI is quite prevalent these days. I just want to ensure that it isn’t AI-generated or photoshopped. I will respond to that.)

Gatchalian said that the same applies to those who dance in the hallways of the Senate or those who sleep inside the session hall.

“Hindi pwedeng gumawa ng mga katawa-tawang mga aksyon sa Senado,” he emphasized.

(We can’t do ridiculous actions inside the Senate.)

“Hindi tama ‘yun. Pinapaimbestigahan ko na ngayon sa OSAA. Pinapatingin ko sa CCTV, just to make sure na hindi AI ‘yun o photoshopped,” he added.

(That’s not right. I’ve asked the OSAA to investigate and look at the CCTVs just to make sure those are not AI or photoshopped.)

If the photos and videos are proven authentic, the Senate President said he will issue a statement regarding the matter.
