New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson has thanked his wife for standing by him during a frightening hospital stay. In a statement posted on X on Friday, Nov. 6, the 24-year-old said he suffered “an unexpected and unusual medical emergency” and that “a series of unexplained neurological symptoms ... required hospitalization for several days.” Tests have come back reassuring, but the cause is still unknown. Henderson has not practiced with the team since Oct. 28, and he plans to lean on specialists and physical therapists during his recovery.

Henderson kept the thank-you short. “I want to thank my wife for being by my side throughout all of this,” he wrote.
He has not shared her name publicly. He announced their engagement in September 2025, one week after his NFL debut, with an Instagram photo of the pair among rose petals right after the proposal. On Feb. 3, he said they were married. “We made it official. We got engaged first, then we eloped,” he said during an appearance on The Walk podcast.
Patriots coach Mike Vrabel addressed Henderson's absence after practice on Nov. 6 and appeared to confirm her name. “He is well loved and respected on our football team,” Vrabel, 51, said, per ESPN. “I'm trying to make sure that TreVeyon's cared for, the recovery plan is intact, he's comfortable with it, and that his wife Kenzie is cared for and understands what was going on through the process.”
Vrabel's words place Henderson's wife inside the recovery plan, not outside it.
What Henderson has said about his recovery
Henderson said he went through “extensive medical testing and evaluation” in the hospital. “While the results of my comprehensive medical testing have come back positive and reassuring, the cause of this remains unknown and unexplainable,” he continued.
The symptoms have left a mark on his body. He said they have affected “my strength, coordination and some of my physical functions.”
He plans to keep working with specialists and physical therapists. “I am committed to doing everything necessary to return to full health. My health and long-term well-being remain my foremost priorities,” he said.
Henderson also said he and his wife were “deeply grateful” for their family and loved ones, the Patriots organization, his agent, his medical team, teammates “and everyone who has offered prayers, encouragement and support.” “We respectfully ask for continued prayers and privacy as we focus on my health and recovery,” his statement concluded.
The specific nature of the medical emergency has not been shared publicly. Henderson was added to the injury report with an illness on Oct. 29, the NFL reported.
