PowerBall’s jackpot rolls again after Friday’s draw comes up empty

Translate

Friday’s PowerBall draw failed to produce a jackpot winner, sending the prize rolling over once again into the next draw.

No player matched all five numbers plus the PowerBall on Friday, meaning the jackpot rolls over to R27 million.

the winning numbers

The winning numbers drawn on Friday, 4 September were 4, 7, 27, 38 and 50, with a PowerBall number of 10.

For PowerBall Xtra, the numbers were 31, 37, 39, 41 and 49, with a PowerBall Xtra number of 15.

Nobody matched all six main numbers plus the PowerBall for the R25 million jackpot, and PowerBall Xtra’s own R3 million jackpot also went unclaimed, rolling over to an estimated R4 million for the next draw.

thousands still walked away with something

Even without a jackpot winner, the night wasn’t a total washout.

More than 159,000 players matched at least some of the winning PowerBall numbers, sharing a total prize pool of just over R5.5 million.

One player did claim the second division prize, worth R424,654.50, for matching all five main numbers without the PowerBall.

Further down the divisions, nearly 85,000 players matched only the PowerBall number and picked up R10.00 each.

On the PowerBall Xtra side, 113,392 players shared prizes across the divisions, with 172 players matching four numbers to win R1,000.00 each.

What happens next

With no winner in either game, both jackpots grow heading into Tuesday’s draw.

The main PowerBall jackpot is now estimated at R27 million.

I always find these near-misses fascinating. Millions of rands changed hands across the country on Friday night, just not the one prize everyone was really watching for, hey.

Did you check your PowerBall ticket from Friday night?
