Power Rangers is preparing to say goodbye to Tommy Oliver once more after one of the most significant eras in the character’s history. This era ultimately cemented the Green Ranger’s legacy in a league of its own, making its close all the more bittersweet. Luckily, fans still have time to mentally prepare themselves, as this goodbye is still more than two months away.
Power Rangers: Green is BOOM! Studios’ ongoing Tommy Oliver-centric solo title, standing out in the character’s bibliography as his first solo comic series, following Tommy’s earlier standalone graphic novel, Soul of the Dragon (2018). Brought to life by the creative talents of writer Paul Allor and artist Gustaffo Vargas, the series also distinguishes itself by being set more than a century in the future, after civilization has collapsed, with a retired Tommy serving as the last living Power Ranger.
Tommy, however, is subsequently pulled out of retirement when a new threat emerges. Thus far, two issues have been released, earning a largely positive response from fans, with the third installment expected to release on October 21, 2026. While this next release is just around the corner, the series’ end is now also in sight, and when it arrives, it will bring an end to what is shaping up to be a truly legacy-changing and defining era for the Green Ranger.

BOOM! Studios’ December solicitations have officially dropped, and among the most notable teasers is the preview for Allor and Vargas’ Power Rangers: Green #5, which will serve as the final installment in the miniseries. Anticipated to release on December 23, 2026, Green #5 revolves around a singular question: Can Tommy Oliver save the world one last time?
As the issue’s synopsis teases, Tommy, along with various members of his found family, will make one last stand against the recently debuted Unmade and her Red Censer, a towering, spider-like machine of pure destruction. Below, fans can find a partial summary of the issue, which reveals further details about the upcoming finale:
Armed with the tools they retrieved from the Wild Morphs, Tommy and team are ready to go into battle to destroy this epic threat — will they be successful in preventing the Unmade from building another monster, creating a lasting peace for the magical beings of this world?
As for Goldar, he has something else he needs to ask of Tommy...but will Tommy be willing to help his former enemy?
Based on the synopsis, the stakes will be incredibly high, with the fate of the world once again resting on Tommy and his companions. However, while this adventure will undoubtedly be a monumental addition to Tommy’s legacy, the series’ exploration of Tommy’s longevity could make this five-issue comic a truly memorable and consequential chapter in his story. After decades of adventures, Green isn’t simply giving Tommy another battle to fight; it is exploring his extraordinary longevity as a Power Ranger.
The Singular Most Important Thing Power Rangers: Green Adds To Tommy Oliver’s Legacy

Even with three issues of Power Rangers: Green left, what this series is contributing to Tommy’s legacy is already clear. Tommy Oliver is widely considered to be the most important Green Ranger in the franchise’s history. However, Power Rangers: Green elevates Tommy beyond simply being “the franchise’s most iconic Green Ranger,” and rather positions him as the last living Ranger of the entire Power Ranger legacy.
The series shows that even after all the other Rangers are long gone, Tommy Oliver endures. It is an exceptionally powerful expansion of Tommy’s legacy, given that he is essentially the last Ranger standing. At the same time, this premise highlights how incredible Tommy’s evolution has been throughout his legacy.
Originally, Tommy was introduced as a villain, then became not only a team member but a leader, and now, with Power Rangers: Green, he has become the last person carrying the Power Rangers legacy forward. Hence, Power Rangers: Green coming to an end will truly be a bittersweet moment, as fans say goodbye to one of the most legacy-elevating portrayals of Tommy Oliver to date.
Power Rangers: Green #5 from BOOM! Studios will be available to read on December 23, 2026!
